To receive consideration, interested candidates must complete the application and submit all required information and documents. Registration Period for STIPDG 2025 begins October 30th, 2024.
Application Requirements:
1. Be a U.S. Citizen.
This is a US Federal Government Internship at the Department of Transportation – Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).
Thus, the applicant must be a US Citizen to apply
2. Be enrolled in degree program.
All applicants must be currently enrolled in degree-granting programs of study at accredited U.S. institutions
of higher education recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. Applicants must maintain 3.0 or better GPA.
3. Be enrolled in degree program.
Be available and able to participate through the duration of the 10-week program.
Documentation You Need to Apply
4. Transcript/Grade Record/Report.
Copy of the most recent Transcript/Grade Record/Report. Undergraduate applicants must be sophomores,
juniors, or seniors for the upcoming Fall Semester.

5. Your Resume.
A one-page resume reflecting work experience (including paid and unpaid), volunteerism,awards, leadership, and extra-curricular activities.

6. One Written Reference.
At least one written reference (with comments) from a department chair, professor, advisor, or from the employer.

7. A Writing Sample.
A one-page, double-spaced, minimum 12-point, typed essay:

- For undergraduate students, reflect on student(s) transportation interests and describe how participation in
STIPDG will enhance academic and career plans/goals - For masters’ students, submit a writing sample (not to exceed two pages) representing your educational and career plans and goals.
- For law students, submit a legal writing sample (not to exceed five pages).
